JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE

Worked as an intern before being offered an editorial position as a part-time staff member. Now works 25-30 hours per week writing, producing, and anchoring in-depth video news stories for the highest rated mobile news app in app space.

Columbia Missourian, Columbia, MO.                                                                            Spring 2012

Worked alongside a staff editor to report on a foreign family adjusting to life in the U.S. for the Missourian’s “Parenthood Project” — a project showcasing a variety of compelling stories about community parents. The project featured video interviews and photos packaged together using Final Cut, and is now featured on the Missourian website.

KOMU 8 News (NBC Affiliate), Columbia, MO.                                                                   2011-2012

Worked in the newsroom assisting a variety of operations ranging from webpage editor to on-scene reporting and live shots. Worked as part of the “U-News” team — the first broadcast team in the world to use Google+ to interact live with viewers during the newscast.

KBIA Radio (NPR), Columbia, MO.                                                                                2011-2012

Worked in the newsroom as a student reporter and production assistant. Reported feature and enterprise stories — including an investigative piece on Adderall medication shortages that was featured on KBIA’s homepage.

Multimedia Tools

Proficient with DSLR cameras, most audio recording devices, and digital video cameras.

Software

Proficient with Final Cut Pro XII and X, Avid, Adobe Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Sony Acid, and GIMP. Working knowledge of programming language C and HTML5.
