Few Columbia Residents Voice Street Improvement Concerns
John worked with KOMU student reporter Stacey Welsh to cover a story about the Columbia Department of Public Works plans to improve local roads. Public Works representatives held a meeting for citizens in the ward 5 area to discuss which streets were dangerous or needed repairs. John filmed and assisted editing video footage for the KOMU 8 News 10 and 11 p.m. broadcasts on Mar. 7, 2012. He also shot pictures and assisted in the production of the web-story. Overdraft Processing Spurs Federal Investigation
KOMU story rough cut -- I worked with fellow convergence reporter Katrina Sostaric to investigate how Columbia citizens are affected by questionable bank overdraft policies. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has launched an investigation into how debit transactions maybe reordered in ways that cause the consumer to pay higher overdraft fees.
Jobs Put on the Table in Jefferson City
John worked with KOMU reporter Meredith Baldwin and travel to Jefferson City, Mo to cover a story involving Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler. Business owners met with Hartzler at her round table discussion at the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce. John shot pictures and wrote a web-article for KOMU's webpage. Local Author Presentation: Mike Trial KBIA Story
First piece for KBIA radio in Columbia, Mo. Originally edited in Audition, re-edited with the cover image in Final Cut Express to meet YouTube format standards. Local author, Mike Trial, held a presentation with the help of the Columbia Public Library to talk about and sign his book titled Black and Gold: The End of the 60s.
Youth In Action: Planting the Seed Program- Summer 2011
First story combining Video, Audio, and Still Shots using Final Cut Express. The Youth in Action Volunteer Program in Columbia, Mo helped at the Boone County Health Department to show children how to plant and grow self-sustaining and healthy foods.

Collection of freelance and personal project photography work over the summer. Photos were used in class storytelling assignments as well as KOMU web stories and feature works. Stories were about the Columbia Youth in Action Program and the largest elderberry farm in North America.
